The school
The Institute for Aquatic Bodywork IAKA offers its courses in Switzerland and neighbouring countries. The institutes of Switzerland, Germany and Austria have been working closely together for 18 years and recognise several of each other’s course modules. However, therapist training should always be completed in the school located in the same country in which the practice is domiciled because the different countries train to different legal bases. The IAKA Switzerland was founded in 1993 by Arjana Claudia Brunschwiler and Peter Schröter. The founder of Spiraldynamik Christian Larsen, very quickly introduced his science-based anatomical concept to the IAKA’s Aquatic Bodywork™. The IAKA’s have continued to develop WATSU® further and now enjoy a joint reputation worldwide. From 1998 Peter became increasingly involved with the Skydancing Institute and withdrew from the leadership of the IAKA. In 2005, Arjana handed overall control to Christian Rothenbühler and moved back to her water centre (le centre) in Belgium. On taking over the IAKA’s, Rothenbühler revised the training content with Claudia Bettenmann and Arjana Claudia Brunschwiler and updated it to the latest professional standards.
